California Cherry Update

The California cherry season is quickly coming to an end. There is still excellent quality fruit coming out of the coastal areas of Hollister, Gilroy and Morgan Hill that were not subject to the earlier rain. Limited quantities of fruit are still available.

With all the rain in many of the growing regions at harvest time, it has been a difficult season for everyone involved. According to Jim Culbertson of California Cherry Advisory Board, it looks the crop will be about 2 million cartons (18lb) or half of last year.

Thanks for all your efforts this year and it can only get better next season.

Northwest Cherry Update

The first of the Northwest cherries are here this week, with shipments of the early variety Chelan. Increasing volumes can now be expected with the season running through to August.

A major part of this year's promotion activity revolves around retail support, as the consumer's decision to purchase is almost always made in store. To help build sales, wobblers, A3 posters and a Northwest Cherry Product and Merchandising Guide have been produced.

Distribution will be direct to over 200 stores through merchandiser visits, along with materials being
available through Northwest cherry wholesalers. Alternatively, click here to contact us if you require copies of the materials.
