Northwest Cherry Growers President BJ Thurlby reports there is still at least two weeks of cherries available. He says:

"The best cherries of the season are being shipped out of the Northwest right now … and it appears that we will ship another 2 million boxes this season! There will be plenty of volume for August promotional activity. These late-season, high-elevation cherries are known for their sweet flavor and are typically larger in size. These varieties, including Lapins, Sweetheart and Skeena , were unaffected by the early weather events and look excellent. Although Rainier volume is beginning to slow down, Rainiers are still available from the Northwest. Be sure to include Rainiers in your cherry mix while supplies last.

Due to the late start of the Northwest season, shipments are expected to continue into the middle of August. Roughly 20 per cent of the Northwest crop is left to ship and promotable volume will be available well into August.

Promotional Suggestion: Take advantage of late season supplies with early August Northwest Cherry promotions. Contact your shipper to take advantage of this opportunity.
