Northwest Cherry Growers President BJ Thurlby reports cherry shipments continue to roll out of the Northwest as the industry enters the back half of the season. He says quality is becoming more consistent, after tough seasonal conditions were experienced at the front half of the season.
Shipments from the Northwest continue to exceed 350,000 (5kg) cartons daily and good supplies will be available well into mid August. The accompanying chart shows the accuracy of forecasts by the main shippers’ Fieldmen, so you can plan with confidence that fruit will be available, especially as the season continues to run later than normal.
