The 2007 California cherry season is upon us and all signs point to a good crop. Ideal chill hours this winter, favourable bloom, and a solid fruit set indicate that available volumes should return to normal this year.
Timing appears to be about normal as well. The first Bings will likely be available around May 18. It is still too early to start talking about peak harvest, so stay tuned for more information.
As you can see from the photo, the season is well underway.

"Fresh Connections Conference"
Sydney, Friday 3 August
Feedback from PMA members, delegates to PMA's 2006 Mastering the Supply Chain Conference in Sydney and attendees at PMA's Fresh Summit Convention and Exposition in San Diego all pointed to the need for more PMA events in Australia. As a result, PMA is planning a series of events in Australia and New Zealand, including an annual "Fresh Connections Conference", modelled on the outstanding response to the 2006 event.
This year's conference will be held at Darling Harbour in Sydney on Friday 3rd August, after a welcoming reception the previous evening. Save the date and more details will be available in future issues of the Bulletin.
