California Cherry Advisory Board Executive Manager Jim Culbertson reports:
"It has not been easy to determine the cherry crop situation so far.
Weather conditions in California are having an adverse effect on the cherry crop, but to what extent it's still too early to tell. All of the cherry varieties will have later timing this season. Expect most shipments to run at least two weeks behind last season.
We have a Board of Directors meeting on April 12 at which time we'll discuss the crop size and outlook. I'll update you all at that time if not before."
With the delayed maturity, peak shipments are likely to arrive in Australia from the end of May through to mid/late June.
In future editions we will continue to provide crop updates as they come in, along with information on this season's promotion programme and how to participate.
